RECYCLING OF CHRISTMAS TREES

The Department of Public Works (683-0362) will pick up discarded Christmas trees for recycling using the following schedule:

MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2008:

Districts 2, 3, and 4 (You vote at the Roger Williams Conference Center, the Portsmouth Senior Center, or the Common Fence Point Community Hall)

TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2008:

Districts 5 and 6 (You vote at Hathaway School or Portsmouth High School gymnasium)

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9, 2008:

Districts 7 and 8 (You vote at Town Hall or Melville School)

THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 2008:

Districts 9 and 10 (You vote at the Portsmouth Middle School or St. Barnabas Church)

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2008:

District 12 (You vote at Aquidneck Island Christian Academy)

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Trees must be placed at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Trees must not be in plastic bags and must be totally stripped of ALL decorations and tinsel.
  • Residents can also bring Christmas trees to the Department of Public Works located off Hedly Street. Trees will NOT be accepted at the Transfer Station.
  • Trees will be recycled into mulch that will be available free of charge to Portsmouth residents. For more information on when mulch is available, contact the Melville Campground at 682-2424.
